With Breast Cancer Awareness Month just a month away, the enthusiasts have already started their part of awareness for the noble cause. SUITE New York’s The Pink Swan Project has come up with a series of designer chairs that have been designed by some of the world famous designers and will be auctioned for the benefit of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. All the chairs will be displayed at Gagosian Shop on Madison Avenue and the SUITE New York’s showroom on Park Avenue and will be auctioned at the charitybuzz.com.
To join hands for this noble cause, many well-known designers such as Karim Rashid, Margherita Maccapani Missoni, Vicente Wolf, Jonathan Adler and Windsor Smith etc are commissioned to modify the iconic Fritz Hansen Swan Chairs which were initially designed by Arne Jacobsen for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Each chair is intricately designed in a very feminine tone to honor the cause. The chairs display floral patterns and colorful lines. Most of the chairs are built in pink color to represent the breast cancer awareness. Out of these 18 designs, few are selected as the opulent designs among the collection that are as follows:

This elegant chair is white in color and is designed by the well-known designer Margherita Maccapani Missoni. The chair will be auctioned at the charitybuzz.com from October 1–31, 2011. The designer commented as:
While thinking about designing this I mainly thought of two words: “pink swan”- and I actually think that it turned out looking very much like a pink swan- a little conceptual, but still a pink swan: the fabric, the feathers and their placement were all chosen with that in mind.”

This beautiful chair is made of elegant Swarovski crystals and is designed by the renowned designer Holly Fulton. The white chair has a multi-color studded back and has a sleek base. The designer has this to say:
“Upon receiving the Swan Chair, I was struck by the combination of simple elegance and modernity it embodied. I wanted to create a design to complement and enhance the existing features whilst conveying my signature style and representing the graphic style of the Holly Fulton label.”

This chair is the most distinguished chair in the whole collection. With the deep red color and hangings around the lower part of the chair, it is one of the most liked parts of the collection. The designer Kelly Hoppen said:
“I wanted to create something of a fantasy, a piece that is fluid constantly in motion, much like a swan.”

Other than the opulent ones, there are other classy and stylish chairs as well like that of Karim Rashid’s chair which resembles with one of the abstract paintings of some famous artist. Red color is used in the lower part of the piece and the upper part is designed with a human figure. The designer said:
Color is life. For me, it is a way of dealing with and touching our emotions, psyche, and spiritual being. That is why I am thrilled to be a part of the Pink Swan Project. The inspiration for my Swan chair was an attempt to honor those affected by breast cancer, by expressing their vitality and spirit through design. Pink is optimistic, energetic, fulgent, engaging, and a moxie to the masculine world that dominates our built landscape. I know that if I can do one small thing to contribute towards the cure then I can feel proud.”
