Like every season, Sotheby’s, world’s fourth oldest auction house has announced its Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Autumn Sale 2011 that will be held on October 5, 2011 at Hall 3, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Sotheby’s Hong Kong has a record of selling some magnificent pieces to the collectors. This time, the sale will be led by jewels from Golconda mines of India with some other beautiful and elegant jewelry pieces. The whole auction is expected to fetch more than $80 million.
Diamonds from Golconda:
The diamonds extracted from the old mine of Golconda were used by many ancient emperors of India. These diamonds are very rare and with the mine having ceased production, there are only handful of the legendary diamonds left today. These diamonds are known for their purity and translucency and hence their authenticity is guaranteed. The diamonds belong to the Type IIa quality that specifies the stones are completely nitrogen-free and hence are translucent.
