Chess is often seen as a game of classy people, and if you fall in the category of elegant chess lover you just cannot settle down with a run-of-the-mill chess set. We have earlier told you about an expensive chess set that came from Charles Hollander collection which costs a whopping $5 million. Many elegant chess sets have been auctioned earlier and to follow this trend Mary Chess Ltd is auctioning rare and atypical items in the chess sets. The auction will take place at Bonhams in the Knightsbridge saleroom on 14th September.
The items to be put on display for auction include a chess set, playing cards and a game board. The chess set is an unusual and rare small glass bottle of Mary Chess, the perfume that became popular amongst women since 1930. The chess set comes with number of letters written to Mary Chess Ltd that is going to be the part of sale. The Queen of Sweden owned a similar set and letters. The auction is expecting to fetch around $3,190.46 to $ 4,785.69 for the whole set.

Other than this rare chess set, the auction will also have an extraordinary Spassky-Fischer silver and silver-gilt chess set designed by the American Director Cy Enfield in 1972. The set was designed to honor the Chess World Championship of 1972 between Fischer and Spassky. This chess set is estimated to fetch around $3,195- $4,155. Also, a unique ebony and ivory inlaid game board will be offered at the sale which is expected to fetch $ 15 977- $23,000.
