Ferrari’s saga of creating iconic vehicles in the past has been well-documented on our part, with the coverages on the 1958 Ferrari 412S, the Ferrari F50 belonging to Sultan of Brunei, and the 1955 Ferrari Bernileta that have been successful at getting record prices at various auctions. The latest to join them is the 1957 Ferrari 250 TR prototype, which will be auctioned at the famous Pebbles Beach Auction later this year. Though not a very decorated vehicle in terms of races, it has managed to be in the limelight at several others rallies and car displays.
As mentioned the current owner, who has been only the 2nd in over 40 years, worked relentlessly to restore the car’s original glory. Like most of the cars from the maker, the current owner believes that the vehicle he owns could be sold over record prices.
This 1957 version of the Ferrari incidentally is one of the 22 pontoon fendered versions that were ever made. Unluckily, only one of them exists in a functional condition to this day, which was restored by the current owner over the years to its original condition. During its earliest years, this car couldn’t share as glorious history as its other counterparts, but featured in known races like the Le Mans, Sabring, The Nurburgring and Targa Florio. However, in terms of rallies and car-shows, the Ferrari 250 TR prototype has garnered significant accolades including 4 times award winning at the Pebble Beach Concours, Cavallino Classics, Rodeo Drive Concours, and the Montery Historics.
