Swiss watchmaker Yvan Arpa unveils the ‘Son of a Gun’ watch for the fearless

While the venerable watchmakers, are busy designing complicated watches, including Harry Winston’s Opus Eleven unveiled at Baselworld 2011, and Urwerk UR-1001 Zeit Device, there is a totally different genre of unconventional wristwatches made from rarest materials. And, one such watch manufacturer is Switzerland-based Yvan Arpa. The watchmaker has introduced one-of-a-kind watches for his brand ArtyA, including the dinosaur dung watch and the colored liquid dial watch amongst other unique timepieces. And, the latest from the watchmaking company is a watch containing real bullets, titled “Son of a Gun” watch aimed at high-end watch collectors. The watch features a novel concept, using firearm, well known for its collectible value with the rich collectors to make this unique wristwatch, only few can afford. The watch showcases six 6mm Flobert bullets suspended in the dial almost like the barrel of a revolver, with a bezel and inner dial like a target sight. The watch uses copper wire as a dynamite wire with a steel case to appeal to gun lovers. The other details include high-grade sapphire crystal finish, water-resistance down to 50 meters, a self-winding movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The time is indicated by transparent hours and minute hands. The “Son of a Gun” watch is the only piece made, but the company will be releasing soon a complete new line of products incorporating the world of fine firearms. No word on the price is yet known, but it’s going to be insane, so get ready to splurge watch lovers!
