We have showcased Audermars Piguet’s expertise in watch-making with our coverage on the Offshore Scuba Watch and the Offshore Grand Prix Collection, where style and horological engineering were elaborated in perfect harmony. Now, bringing together more than 135 years of history and expertise, a book has been launched called ‘The Audermars Piguet Master Watchmaker since 1875’ which traces the evolution of the enterprise and proprietary expertise of its artisans, which has carved a niche for the Swiss Watchmaker.
The brand was founded in 1875 by the duo Jules Louis Audermars and Edward Auguste Piguet in the Swiss village of Le Brassus. Growing since then, the enterprise now employs more than 1000 people on its payroll in different parts of the world, including Switzerland itself. The beginnings are traced to a family garage in Jura, where the knowledge for horological expertise started evolving making the company what it is today.
The Book has multiple chapters and traces this journey such as the ‘The Joux Valley’ and the ‘Watchmaking in the genes’ which are dedicated to the roots of the business. ‘The perfect time factory’ is dedicated to some of the most complicated timepieces that were made, but were icons in their own time for the use of technology and innovation.
To know how the company’s workshops were and how they currently function, you can take a look at ‘A Watch is forever’, and ending the history book is a chapter dedicated to the Audermara Piguet Foundation, which has carried on extensive work in the area of forest conservation. For those that may not have the needed bank balance to purchase the exquisite timepieces, this book provides vivid details of the watchmaker through the ages. Whether you are a horological geek, or simply an enthusiast of master timepieces, this book certainly could be worth the time and effort of acquiring.
